How it began it not entirely known, but it has nothing to do with prostitutes. Each year, individuals, organizations and the fun-loving among us dress up in their outrageous best and march through downtown Hartford, in celebration of Thomas Hooker, Hartford's founding father and a rather Puritanical man. He is believed to be buried at the Ancient Burying Ground. |

Note: There is no known portrait of Thomas Hooker. This monument, which is located in Downtown Hartford, was created by sculptor Frances Wadsworth after studying the features of Hooker's local descendants. |
