Dillon Stadium named for James H. Dillon, who devoted 35 years to fostering recreational programs in the city has seen many uses over the years. In the late 1960s, Pete Savin established the Hartford Knights as a successful minor league professional football team in Hartford. As part of the Atlantic Coast Football League, the team played for six years at Dillon Stadium The stadium has also hosted concerts by Rod Stewart, the Rolling Stones and Grateful Dead. Now city-owned property, it is largely used as a practice and playing field for area high school teams.
